State of the Art in Grafting Materials and Their Indications P-15 -
To Boldly Go Where No One Has Gone Before
Leon Chen, DMD
This two-part forum "boldly goes where no one has gone before" by utilizing P-15 in a new sinus augmentation technique and to cover gingival recession.
Inadequate alveolar bone height below the maxillary sinus is a frequent anatomical restriction for the prosthetic reha- bilitation of the upper jaw with endosteal implants. Within the sinus cavity, there are more anatomical restrictions for ideal implant location such as sloping sinus floor, presence of septa, and nasal sinus cavity. An internal crestal approach utilizing the tissue engineered bone replacement graft mate- rial, called P-15, for implant placement in deficient alveolar ridges is presented, along with the brief introduction of the new Anyklos implant system. 1,100 clinical cases with four years follow up will be addressed.
Gingival recession is always a hot topic in the aesthetic den- tal arena. There are a number of techniques to perform soft tissue grafts ranging from a subepitherlial tissue graft to an alloplastic graft. The new Vertical Translation Technique to cover recession, repair failed tissue grafts and for ridge aug- mentation utilizes P-15 to replace bone loss and build bulk in the receded area. A total of 820 clinical cases with two years follow up will be presented.
